Job Summary
The Islamic Center of the East Valley (ICEV), located in bright, sunny Chandler, AZ is looking for an Imam to lead its very vibrant and diverse community.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader and scholar with a deep knowledge of Al-Quran and Sunnah, well acquainted with different schools of thoughts, understands the complexities of practicing Islam in the west, has excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to disseminate knowledge to community members of all age groups, and enthusiastic to keep the community engaged with the masjid.
Responsibilities
- The Imam is the islamic and spiritual leader of the community. Imam has a very important role that helps shape/influences individuals, families, and youth to be better practicing Muslims. Imam will lead by being a role model as well as teacher and preacher.
- Lead ICEV community spiritually and provide guidance according to the Quran and Sunnah.
- Inspire and lead his community towards unity as prescribed in Islam irrespective of diverse backgrounds of the community members.
- Participate and Represent ICEV in Islamic and Interfaith Conferences, seminars, and other events.
- Teach Quran and Sunnah at ICEV. Tafsir, Tajweed, Hadith, Sirah, Fiqh, Aqeeda and other related subjects.
- Lead and organize regular halaqas at ICEV for the whole community in general and youth in particular.
- Address religious, social, cultural, and other relevant issues and how to deal with those matters as a Muslim living in the West.
- Mentor and guide youth in the community, fostering their spiritual growth and understanding of Islam.
- Communicate effectively with community members to address their concerns and needs.
- Organize and lead educational programs for new Muslims.
- Counsel community members for conflict resolutions including marital issues.
- Maintain regular communication with the Board of Directors on all matters at ICEV.
- Lead Daily Prayers at Masjid. Maghreb, Isha, Fajr are required
- Delivers Jumu’ah khutba. At least two weeks in a month or as assigned by the Board of Directors
- Deliver Eid Khutbah as assigned by the Board of Directors
- Lead Taraweeh and Qiyam with assistance of other Imams if needed
- Lead funeral Prayer as required
- Offer guidance and advise to the bereaved families
- Lead optional prayers as required
- During Solar and Lunar Eclipse for example
- Conduct Islamic marriages at ICEV
- Maintain daily/weekly office hours
Collaborate with Board of Directors on:
- ICEV fundraisers
- Organize Interfaith and Dawah programs in coordination with individuals and groups who have experience in this field.
- Organize yearly conferences and seminars/workshops to help educate the community in many aspects.
- Organize community events on a monthly or bimonthly basis
- Invite and host visiting scholars to share their knowledge and expertise with ICEV community

Qualifications
- Minimum B.A in Islamic Studies or similar fields
- Hafiz Al-Quran
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven public speaking and presentation abilities
- Leadership experience in team settings
- Ability to provide bereavement support
- Experience in teaching and mentoring others
- Skills in event planning and crisis intervention
- Familiarity with conflict management and crisis management techniques
